    Hi there, Disaster86 here! Random textures have been added to MCPatcher.
    It seems they were added as an extension to CTM.
    I am not yet entirely sure on how they work but here is what's written on the forum thread

    ChangeLog -
    Show Spoiler

    4/18 2.3.6_01 release:
    • CTM bug fixes and performance improvements.
    • Support for multiple ctm tile sets in the same image.
    • Support for random textures.

    Texture Information:
    Show Spoiler

    You can also specify multiple ctm blocks from the same image. Create a file called /ctm/block<block id>.properties or /ctm/terrain<tile number>.properties. In it, specify the name of the source image and the list of tiles to use. There must be exactly 48 tiles listed:
    source=/ctm/myctm.png
    tiles=64-7580-9196-107112-123
    See this sample texture pack for an example. It applies CTM to dark red, greed, blue, purple, and cyan wool using the same image.

    You may also specify method=random in the .properties file. Instead of the default "connect to neighbors" logic, the game simply picks at random from the list of tiles. Use this to add variety to grass, stone, or other common blocks. In this case, you may specify any number of tiles on the tiles= line (does not have to be 48).

    Textures So Far:
    Default Cracked Stone Bricks (4 Variants)
    Default Mossy Stone Bricks (4 Variants)
    Default Ornate Stone Bricks (4 Variants)

    Some blocks are repeated for better chances e.g. 3/9 chance of getting default Ornate Stone Bricks
    Once I work out the coding I'll get to it.

    Not bad... Some of the mossy brick has too bright green though.

    I will get the cracked brick in this update. Here is the .properties file that goes with it, if you would like a guide:
    Code:
    source=/ctm/cracked.png
    method=random
    tiles= 0 1 2 3 4 5
    weight= 8 1 1 1 3 2

    please explain the weight value

    Weight determines the frequency of the texture. Each number corresponds to the respective tile above it. They add up to 18, so tile 0 is used half the time, tile one 1/16th the time, etc.

    You can also determine what direction this appears on:

    face= [north | south | east | west (f=1) | sides (N, S, E and W shorthand) | top | bottom]

    Here is the workbench code included in 11.1 that fixes up workbenches:

    terrain59.properties
    Code:
    source= /terrain.png
    method= random
    tiles= 60
    faces= north south
    terrain60.properties
    Code:
    source= /terrain.png
    method= random
    tiles= 59
    faces= east west

    Holy frijoles... I just realized something amazing...

    You can specify the block and damage for a custom texture. This means, I think, we can make custom textures for the door side, fences, buttons, maybe even the stair sides, birch leaves, lever base, you name it, any derivative texture.

    It may not work, though, so don't quote me on that. Anyone willing to test it out?

    I put the ornate bricks on the random.png, and made random terrain for the alt bricks.

    I actually like the better than our default, ours has no texture.

    They don't fit the color palette and look a bit jagged.

    They could be recolored to the same palette as the old brick, as fro the jaggedness, I don't see it.

    It's hard to see it on the iPad, but I think I see what Sheynx is talking about. Still, everyone has their own opinion, and that's what a customizer is for.
    Although the customizer can't handle this texture. I think it's time for a new customizer...

    Randoterrain cacti tops. Flower made by Libby, I think. either LibbyKino or EpicMidget.

    Also, I found out vines actually work on the vertical method, so they are now kinda CTM.
