[2.8] Minecraft 1.8 & Snapshots Blocks

Welcome to the topic where you can post all Block Textures!

We decided to get ready for the new years with some needed changes. Since the old topic used to get pretty hectic, we decided to switch to a new thread system (separate threads for Blocks, Items, Other) to help with that.
Also, we believe that following the following format when posting textures will help both texture makers, users and Texture Reviewers so do post your textures using the following form:

    Vanilla texture name:
    Version:
    Texture:
    Screenshot(s):
    *File:

Click this to read explanations about the form (open)

    • Vanilla texture name: (e.g.) flower_tulip_red.png
    • Version: If you make various versions of one texture make sure to identify them, for example as v1/ v2/ v3 etc. This makes it easier to address the textures and not confuse people.Trust me, it can be pretty awkward to try to refer to a specific version without the actual numbers.
    • Texture: wfjbowu.png (The texture you made. Make sure you save it as .png)
    • Screenshot: We'd love if they could be taken during daytime (unless it's one that needs a darker environment eg. Glowstone) and for items, we'd love if you could post them on the ground as well into your hotbar to make sure that there are no stray pixels etc) Picture_04.jpeg Picture_05.png
    • *File: .psd/.xtf (*Only if you want to provide it or are asked to provide it in that format!)

Please note that, submissions that don't follow this format wont be considered valid for review (From our Texture Reviewers). We'd prefer not to cloud the thread with unnecessary post asking for specific information that this form provides us with. Additionally, we'd love for everyone that wants to give their opinion, unless it's specific Feedback, to use the Like button instead. This will help your input to be recorded while the texture browsing is eased.

As a quick note, we accept texture submissions for both older versions of Minecraft as well 1.8 and further. While we love seeing textures for things we already have, we'll appreciate if you focus on the newer textures first. :)

I simply took the normal Soartex glass texture (credit goes to original texturer) and added intense 50% opacity stained glass colors. I hope you guys like it!

Alright, *claps hands* I'm here ~

@Romanz_Black (Glass) - I like the concept behind it, but the colors are much too strong. It would fit if we were more of a neon pack, but we tried keeping the colors as close to default, and yours just hurt my eyes. I don't mean that as an offense, I have very sensitive eyes, but they are much to vibrant for Soartex. I almost feel as though colors that vibrant belong as flooring tiles...

@Valsis (Rough Granite) - I like the color of it, and the noise to an extent, but I think it shouldn't be a recolored/overlaid cobblestone texture. I understand you didn't just hit "Recolor" and "Add Noise" and that effort went in, but I feel as though the rough granite needs to be a new texture, as it's not defined as a cobblestone variant. I know jeb_ says it's a combination of cobblestone and quartz, but it's cobblestone AND something. What I'm trying to say (in too many words, I apologize) is that it shouldn't be obviously a version of cobblestone.

@Valsis (Smooth Granite) - It looks much too noisy for Soartex. I know in the screenshot jeb_ posted it is very noisy, but remember that Soartex is smooth and clean. As much as we should try to stick to the Vanilla feel, it would be much too noisy for Soartex if we did so.

@Romanz_Black (Rough Granite) - Wow, my eyes. I mean that in the nicest way possible, but it's very bright and very noisy. It's less obviously cobblestone, but it has some tiling issues and is very bright. Also, try to stick to the Vanilla coloring with it. Great effort, though!

@Romanz_Black (Smooth Granite) - Again, my eyes. It has too many squares to be considered "smooth", in my opinion. Also, the coloring is much too vibrant. It almost looks like patterned glass that is opaque.

Vanilla Texture Name: (glass)_white, _orange, _magenta, _light_blue, _yellow, _lime, _pink, _black, _light_gray, _cyan, _purple, _blue, _brown, _green, _red, _black

    Version: V4

Texture: In the spoiler tag for each piece individual glass texture.

Notes: Redone Opacity, fits the pack better but still maintains the colour. Changed the boarder of the glass (stained and default); made it a width of two pixels to make look cleaner and more sleek. Panes are also connected. Can also add streaks if you guys want that with the CTM. Texture is still valid without MCpatcher, except textures wont be connected. Files for each individual piece of glass WILL have to be in a folder format for CTM to work.
To install these files (for MCpatcher, I don't know how Optifine works), go into the zip file of the texture pack, then go to assets> minecraft> mcpatcher> ctm> blocks> and then just paste all the files in that folder. And then patch.

EDIT: Biome issue fixed. New files are up. I made it a lot easier as well. The one zip file has all the things you need for the glass to work. The other file is for regular texturing (in other words put it in the block texture folder).

EDIT 2: The issue with connected panes has been fixed. Adding larger screenshots under the spoiler tags.

If you look closely, its a cobblestone texture, its just that she needs to make it a little lighter to see the texture.

It is one of the first tweaks I ever made so I am glad of every help :)

    EDIT:
I also tried to animate it, but it seems, that it don't works... :(
For the beginning, I tried to make 10 pictures... It's really disappointing not to see a result :( Hours and hours searching for the error in the .mcmeta and the only thing, I could experienced is, that the error texture pops out, if you try to write the "frames"... I quit -.-. The animation (as I seen it with highspeed) looks not that perfect, I'll give it a chance another time...
    EDIT2:
    *
fixed, but now I can see... it's not that good...
but I'm happy that it works, it's my first animation, though...
so I'll come back and bring out a better animation soon :)
maybe, better afterwards someone reviewed the texture itself...

@creepeace I'm sorry but we can't accept textures with images as overlay... the face you applied is from the movie "Scream" and our goal is to have textures made by us, pixel-wise, and not by grabing an image online and place it on top of an existing texture.

@redflex1235 Extremely well done with your slime block! *clap* Keep doing the good job :D

    Diorite & Andesite
I actually like them. I would darken the diorite just a notch as it seems just a bit washed out but then again, that's closer to it's original default color so it actually makes sense for it to look like that. However, there are some tiling issues going on in both textures so you might want to get those sorted out. :)

@redflex: Those textures look great. You probably want to base the cracks off of the crack animation though, because when you break the blocks people will notice that you used the same texture.

Although, that might bee a cool effect, the way the blocks break along the cracks... I'll have to check it out in-game.

I'm moving my granite post down here, so the likes aren't shared between this post and my texture format post. I wanna see how many people like my granite :p (If you meant to like this post and not the other one, feel free to unlike the other post.)

I don't want to annoy any of the Texture Reviewers, but in this case I just want to say my opinion ^^.
It seems that the textures for the new stones split in two different directions... but none of them is it worth to say "you are the worse one", so I would suggest to finish both versions and put one in the customizer. If I had to choose, I would prefer Redflex's version, but both are worth for being in Soartex :)

I'll take my time to look over Floppygunk's tutorial about soartexturing and hope to help you guys then more than just with words :)

To be honest those textures redflex1235 made are purely picking up textures that already exist and compile to make a new one, something that I don't approve myself. There's indeed exceptions, unfortunately this is not one of them.

I've been saying for quite a while that, when new textures are released from the game we should think outside the box and forget the texture we already have and work on new ones from scratch by keeping the smooth and clean look. We are known for originality and good content, not from picking already made textures and re-use them.

These new stone variations are extremely different from the content we've ever had in the pack, another reason why we should work from scratch on them, don't you think? ;)

Let your brain work, make some research on how those stones are in real life and work your magic! :)

The tweaks you made are way to forced, as in, there's too much contrast between them along with the bevel/emboss effect to create the lighted and shadowed area.

Take a look at the original textures and you also will be able to see that all of them are totally different from each other and they do not use the same exact pattern. Try to go wild with texturing, don't be a lazy bunny and simply recolor textures :p Be original! Be creative!
